Dancing on broken ceramic arches of defeat
Pieces of art fall lethargically around the beat
I sing in the summer heat beneath an eclipse
Once you meet me half way ill place grief to your lips

    .....Shyttttt.....

From the peak of a monolith i found a place to die
Slumped in life's arms, cracked open a case of lies
'I tried' . . . this songs an ode to the effort I put forth
Poured cries over a desert sky, evanescent & scorched
Leveraged the source, buried numbness in a foil trench
Tried to fix life but forgot to oil the monkey wrench
The stench of bad luck offends the atmosphere
Feet stuck in two tracks. . where do we go from here?
I disappeared in that foggy dark blanket you call fear
Tears fall like rain drops & cold steers me all year
Thank God where all here to crawl under the shame
As children frolic through traffic playing hunger games
From the balsa framed pictures hanging from vines
You find creators more divine than he who procreated wine
The sun shines - casting shadows that touch your breath
Can't rest inside a world with dreams crushing your chest
Bless that dismal little hole that used to house a soul
Till I found a toll bridge but forgot to pay the troll
Control is a fine art that I've struggled to perfect
Pick hitting every string that strummed notes of regret
Pressed the fret so hard my nails raised from the skin
Manicured sins only fit for my the loneliest friend
If you could show me how to mend these broken memories
Id build cities out of hope instead of dope and chemistry
Pave roads with each brick knocked from thick walls
That block the fortified borders that sit explicitly tall
Enthralled in a vision that's conditionally flawed
Watching people drive away until they shifted and stalled

    They say. . . 'I had a gift'
I can lift people like never before
    But you'll never listen
Like I'll never step from this shore

    Maybe your right.

    But fuck it.

    Close the door.

I'll just sing to a crowd of fading oceans and storms

Re: CONTENDERS: WK 8: Kayge(3-0) vs. Day-Day(2-0) *Open for Votes*

Rhythm - Kayge, barely. Both flows were dope & precise. Just about perfectly even.

Rhyming - Kayge, by a large margin

Dancing on broken ceramic arches of defeat
Pieces of art fall lethargically around the beat
I sing in the summer heat beneath an eclipse
Once you meet me half way ill place grief to your lips
    ^Uh, dopeness?

    Emotion - Day-Day, by a large margin

Now I know she was strong surviving cancer for years,
Striving for perfection with a small selection of fears.
Failure was never one of them but to me its the worst,
because I'd rather die in my prime than living a curse.
^Killing them softly. Dude is hitting the hert

    Storytelling - Day-Day by a large margin

I couldn't quote directly anything thing that she said,
other than "Don't let your heart ever lie to your head."
Now I'm crying in bed, because I've been trying to thread,
the fine line of caring with my eyes on the dead.
^He kept me reading, this was my favorite part of this entire battle to be honest

    Signifying - Kayge, better metaphors/symbolisms/hyperboles/etc

Control is a fine art that I've struggled to perfect
    ^Metaphor(Control =/= Fine Art)
Bless that dismal little hole that used to house a soul
Till I found a toll bridge but forgot to pay the troll
^Consonance(l's)/Assonance(o's)/Symbolism(little hole that used to house a soul)

Creativity - Kayge, due to his twist on the topic "Staying at shore"

    They say. . . 'I had a gift'
I can lift people like never before
    But you'll never listen
Like I'll never step from this shore

"You can never cross the ocean until you have the courage to lose sight of the shore." –Christopher Columbus

    Maybe your right.

    But fuck it.

    Close the door.

I'll just sing to a crowd of fading oceans and storms
    ^Creative

This was a hard battle because what one person lacked, the other had. I had to go with Kayge because of his flowing bars. He wasn't so robot rhyming with stale schemes; he had actual soul in his verse but it couldn't match the pure soul in Day-Day's verse. Day-Day just needed better diction for rhymes, signifying & he would have won due to his emotion advantage + storytelling advantage. His opponent had a well refined piece up; a nice read from both though. Good battle.

    Vote: Kayge

    Cool battle.

Kayge - excellent work, the flow was flawless. your writing reminds me of my own so i enjoyed the way you weaved your wording and the way you used your multies and started the next line with a rhyme and internals as well, i like that style. the imagery was really nicce & word choices/vocab was cool as well. nice job my friend.

Day Day - ok, i could feel the emotion behind the way you wrote. the emotion was the strong point and the feelings that were showed behind the concept. the flow was nice as well. rhyme scheme was a little basic & the vocab and imagery was very simple imo. but overall nice little piece here.

overall, i thought Kayge took this was a very strong piece here. his vocab, imagery, flow and multies were excellent throughout while Day had stronger emotion, but kayge had more polished traits to his verse so he gets my vote.

I had Kayge winning. YDK had a short but sweet piece that was very bare bones and direct, not much meat to the story other than an explanation of the plot. On top of this, Kayge encompassed the topic (albeitly abstractly) in an interesting manner that became more clear as the piece progressed. by the end I felt as if I understood the emotion behind the quote in a very lucid manner.. YDK's ending (hoping his kids will remember what he did) directly violates the topic of his choice.

    Def Kayge
I only stop by to look through you.
