    Popular music

Do you think theres been a major change in music appeal lately? From songs 8-10 years ago to the style we have today? Or is it just our music preferences that's changed?

I was listening to Backstreet Boys' Backstreet's Back album a few days ago, album must've been 1998 i think. And i could say when I heard them back then it was good, and i listened to it recently the songs were good. Classic billboard numbers like 'All i have to give' and 'as long as you love me', they're still a worthwhile listen to than the 'pop/rnb' chart-breakers they put up today.

The backstreet songs mostly just had nice sounding synths and acoustic strings and guitars, but they're not trash. Back then, even if it wasn't too long ago, a good song gets you instant world recognition. As i get older, i really have hard time trying to appreciate billboard, mtv, uk chart songs because theyre just not appealing anymore. Some try too hard to spark controversy and finding a niche, that they lose feeling in their tunes.

I'm guessing this is the case with all generations, but today, new is just not new anymore. they can emulate a throwback ballad and it'll turn out even worse.

I personally couldn't remember when the 'shift' happened, but i'm guessing it was probably around 01-02. I wouldn't blame it on the music industry itself since music is music and its hard work, but even more so then ever, i can't wait to listen to future classics (cuz i'm guessing its all down to how lucky the artist is now).

No money in my pockets. Although one of my teachers from Full Sail was the producer for Backstreet Boys and NSync. But he hated on the guitar solo at the end of my video, so that pretty much tells me how wack his musical taste is
