It's hard
Managing a nine to five -
When you only have
five to nine to rest your eyes
Since pops died mom's tried
To give us a better livin'
Workin two jobs with mines
To keep a fresher kitchen
It's hard 'cuz I miss him,
And if I could've told him how
He was my inspiration for
Workin these streets to hold him down
And his soul lives in the sidewalks
That's why I believe he holds my ground.
I wish I could've told him about
That if he left our family could'nt face it
And now I run with his killer -
Hustlin snow for dough so we can make it
'cuz moms a G short on Tammy's braces.
The world is all I'm facing -
I'd take it - there's gotta be a better way
Half of my check's all I'm making
And I wish all tommorows were all yesterdays
That way I could get away,
I'd stand for the fam if I had a will though
The way you bought me jeans
You made this life seem so simple
Cuz all those nights you put my head to a pillow
You'd gone through a pain to
Hastle the hustle so cops wouldn't cuff you
All to sustain two
Kids and a wife, so I'd look foward to
Every morning to tell you I'm thankful.
So I'll come thru for your sake
Pay for the water and to keep the lights on
Put a smile on Tams face
And keep moms pockets warm.
Then when it's my time,
I'll stop and grab a pitcher for two
And tell you these sidewalks I ran
Were just a tribute for you.
